The annual Census of women directors and executive officers plays a major role in The Boston Club’s Corporate Board Program, focusing attention on the identification and development of a vital pool of female expertise for corporate leadership positions.

We believe that it is important to publicize the track record of Massachusetts’ largest public companies in opening the doors of their boardrooms and executive suites to talented women.

Some of the highlights of this year’s report are:

  • a record percentage (41.7%) of new independent directors were women – this is the only way that the overall percentage of women directors will be increased over time.
  • 61% of the 100 companies have two or more women directors.
  • 12.2% of the women who serve on Census company boards are women of color.
